Marketing Specialist for Travel Alberta, Canada

JOB PURPOSE:

Reporting to Marketing Manager for the province of Alberta, the Marketing Specialist will provide administrative and marketing support for Travel Alberta in order to ensure operations are efficient,effective and in compliance with the Alberta brand and messaging.

OPERATING ENVIRONMENT:

Canadian Tourism Commission  (CTC) is a Canadian Federal Crown Corporation. Under terms of contracts with the provincial government of Alberta, CTC will employ an Alberta Marketing Specialist to provide general support for an integrated program of consumer promotions, marketing campaigns, travel trade and travel media programs to develop tourism business to Alberta.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Communications with Chinese travel trade and/or travel media clients. 
  • Assists in monitoring budgets.
  • Support for elements of multilayered marketing campaign elements.
  • Coordination of Chinese language print and online collateral and display material. 
  • Coordination of meetings, events and travel arrangements for managers, head office staff and for visiting delegations. 
  • General office administration.  
  • Organizes trade show programs and special events.
  • RepresentsTravel Alberta at trade shows, special events and client meetings as required.  
  • Coordination for Travel Alberta's Chinese website in between vendor and Alberta head office.  

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Proven experience including proficiency with desktop applications including Microsoft, Word, Excel, MS PowerPoint and Outlook. 

Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a high volume, fast changing environment.  

Pride and commitment to a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Analytical and problem solving skills.

Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills in both English and Chinese.

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and assignments with competing pressures.

Ability to initiate action independently.

Records management.

Strong teamwork to maintain a smooth operation and good working relationships with co-workers.

Minimum of one year working experience in administrative role and two years of marketing role, preferably in the tourism industry.

Availablity to travel in market and internationally as required.
