A century after 1,500 lives were lost on
the maiden voyage of the ill-fated RMS Titanic, a brand new avatar of the ship
is built in China.
Christened the New Titanic, the full-scale
replica recently began construction in China’s Sichuan province, more than
1,200 kilometres away from the sea.
The Chinese company, Star Energy Investment
Group’s 1 billion yuan ($145 million) venture is expected to enjoy smoother
sailing than its original, as part of a larger tourist resort on the banks of
the Qijiang River.
